Where to get a certified divorce decree in Pinellas County

In Pinellas County, the certified copy comes from the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller in Clearwater.

The Clerk issues electronically certified documents and provides an eCertification verification tool on its website. An official electronic certified copy, printed exactly as delivered, can be used for the apostille — send us a photo first if you're unsure.

Meet us in person: our Clearwater office (2536 Countryside Blvd, Suite 540) takes appointments Monday–Friday, 9 AM–6 PM. Or order online and ship by FedEx.

What the copy must look like

A complete copy of the final judgment of dissolution of marriage, certified by the Clerk of Court with an original wet-ink certification or the clerk's official e-certification. The state fee is $20 ($10 apostille + $10 certificate of incumbency), already in our price. If the receiving country accepts the one-page dissolution certificate instead, it must be signed by the State Registrar or a Clerk of the County Court and certified in 2014 or later.

State fee: $20 — included in our $220. Fees the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller charges for the certified copy are not included.

Why divorce decrees get rejected

  • Plain, conformed or attorney copy instead of the clerk-certified judgment
  • Notarized photocopy of the decree
  • Missing pages or attachments the foreign office needs, such as a settlement agreement
  • Divorce granted in another state

$220 per document, $380 for two and $160 each for three or more — the state fee, request form, in-person filing in Tallahassee and FedEx shipping inside the U.S. are included. Shipping the finished apostille is a flat $100 per order.

Not included: whatever the issuing office charges for the certified copy or certificate, and notarization (online notarization is $40 for the first document — $10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee — and $20 for each additional one).

Common questions

From the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller in Clearwater. Ask for a certified copy — a plain copy or printout can't be apostilled.
No. Only the Florida Department of State in Tallahassee issues Florida apostilles. The county office certifies the record; we take it from there.
The decree is the full court judgment; the certificate is a one-page vital record that summarizes it. For remarriage or civil-status updates abroad, many authorities want the full judgment, so ask the receiving office before you order.
Documents certified by a Florida Clerk of Court cost $20 at the state: $10 for the apostille plus $10 for a certificate of incumbency confirming the clerk. Our $220 price already includes it.
