Divorce Certificate Apostille in St. Petersburg.

Florida divorce decrees are issued by the Clerk of Court in the county where the divorce was finalized — not by the state. For divorces finalized in Pinellas County, that's the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Only the certified copy of the final judgment (with the embossed seal and clerk's signature) can be apostilled. Photocopies, attorney-prepared summaries, and uncertified copies cannot be apostilled.

Two related documents sometimes get confused: the Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage (the court order that ends the marriage) and the Divorce Decree / Certificate (a summary issued by the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics for divorces filed since 1972). Either can be apostilled. For most foreign uses — foreign remarriage, foreign citizenship by descent, foreign property matters — the receiving institution requires the certified Final Judgment from the Clerk of Court, not the vital-statistics summary. Check with the receiving institution before ordering.

St. Petersburg residents apostille divorce decrees most often for: foreign remarriage (most countries require proof of a finalized prior divorce before issuing a new marriage license), foreign citizenship applications (when prior marital history affects ancestry — common in Italian citizenship cases), international child custody and support cases (where the divorce decree includes custody and support orders that need to be recognized abroad), and foreign property division (when assets located abroad were addressed in the Florida divorce judgment).

Payment is collected online when you place the order — credit card or ACH. Drop-off at our West Palm Beach office is also available at the same $190 price if you can travel. We handle divorce decree apostilles with the same discretion as death certificates. Confidentiality matters.

Why St. Petersburg residents need a divorce certificate apostille.

Every week we help dozens of Pinellas County residents authenticate their documents for use abroad. These are the most common reasons divorce certificate apostille services are requested.

Foreign Remarriage

Marrying again in another country? Most foreign governments require an apostilled prior divorce decree before issuing a marriage license. Italy, Spain, Portugal, Mexico, the Caribbean — all standard requirements.

Foreign Citizenship Applications

Italian, Polish, and other ancestral citizenship applications sometimes require apostilled divorce decrees in the line of descent — particularly where ancestor relationships or name changes affect the application.

International Custody & Support

Florida divorce judgments that include child custody, child support, or visitation orders need to be apostilled if you're seeking foreign enforcement or recognition of those orders.

Foreign Property Division

When the Florida divorce judgment addressed property located abroad (real estate, bank accounts, business interests), the apostilled judgment is required to enforce or record that division in the foreign jurisdiction.

Foreign Inheritance Matters

Foreign probate proceedings sometimes require apostilled divorce decrees to clarify marital status at the time of an inheritance event.

Foreign Bank & Title Records

Foreign banks and property title registries occasionally request apostilled divorce decrees to update records when an account or title holder's marital status has changed.

Common questions.

From the Clerk of Court in the county where the divorce was finalized. For divorces finalized in Pinellas County, that's the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Many clerks offer online ordering through their official county portal. Cost is typically $10–$15 per certified copy.
The Final Judgment of Dissolution of Marriage is the actual court order from the Clerk of Court that ends the marriage. The "Divorce Decree" (or Divorce Certificate) is sometimes used to refer to a summary record from the Florida Bureau of Vital Statistics. For most foreign uses, you want the certified Final Judgment from the Clerk of Court — that's the document foreign governments and consulates expect.
No — we only apostille Florida-issued documents. If your divorce was finalized in another state, you'll need to use that state's apostille service. The decree must be authenticated by the state that issued it.
It depends on what's sealed. If the entire judgment is under seal, you'll need to petition the court to unseal it before apostille is possible. If only certain exhibits or attachments are sealed, the main judgment can usually still be apostilled. Talk to your Florida attorney first.
Sometimes — depends on the receiving institution. Foreign remarriage applications often want both: the prior marriage certificate (showing the marriage existed) and the divorce decree (showing it ended). Italian citizenship applications sometimes also request both. Bundle pricing applies: $300 for 2 documents.
5–7 business days from when we receive your certified divorce decree. For St. Petersburg residents, online order is the most convenient — we email you a FedEx QR code, you drop your envelope at any FedEx, and we handle the rest.
