Marriage Certificate Apostille in St. Petersburg.

Florida marriage certificates are issued by the Clerk of Court in the county where the marriage license was filed — not by the state. For marriages recorded in Pinellas County, that's the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Only the certified copy issued by the Clerk's office — with the embossed seal and clerk's signature — can be apostilled. Photocopies, memorial certificates from the ceremony, church-issued certificates, and uncertified copies cannot be apostilled by the Florida Department of State.

If you don't currently have a certified copy of your marriage certificate, you can request one from the Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court in person or by mail. Most clerks offer online ordering through their official county portal. Turnaround is usually 1–2 weeks by mail, same-day in person. Once you have the certified copy in hand, send it to us and we'll handle the apostille — review, filing at the Florida Department of State, and return shipping in 5–7 business days.

St. Petersburg residents apostille marriage certificates most often for dual citizenship applications (Italian, Polish, Irish, Portuguese), foreign spouse visa applications, international adoption proceedings, real estate transactions abroad where both spouses are on title, and retirement-visa applications in countries like Portugal, Spain, and Mexico that grant residency to married couples as a unit. Payment is collected online when you place the order — credit card or ACH. Drop-off at our West Palm Beach office is also available at the same $190 price if you can travel.

Why St. Petersburg residents need a marriage certificate apostille.

Every week we help dozens of Pinellas County residents authenticate their documents for use abroad. These are the most common reasons marriage certificate apostille services are requested.

Italian Dual Citizenship

Italian citizenship by descent and by marriage both require apostilled Florida marriage certificates. If you're applying for jure sanguinis as a married couple, both spouses' marriage certificates may need authentication.

Foreign Spouse Immigration

Sponsoring a foreign spouse's residency in countries like Portugal, Spain, Italy, or the UK typically requires an apostilled marriage certificate as proof of the marriage.

International Adoption

Foreign adoption agencies require an apostilled marriage certificate as part of the home-study and dossier package for St. Petersburg couples adopting internationally.

Real Estate Closings Abroad

When both spouses are on title to property in Mexico, Costa Rica, Italy, or Spain, a notary or escrow agent may require an apostilled marriage certificate to confirm the marital tenancy.

Retirement Visas

Portugal's D7 visa, Spain's non-lucrative visa, Mexico's temporary residency, and similar retirement-track programs grant residency to married couples as a unit — but only with an apostilled marriage certificate.

Religious / Cultural Documentation

Some religious institutions abroad (especially in Italy, Greece, and the Vatican) request apostilled civil marriage certificates as part of religious ceremony or annulment proceedings.

Common questions.

Yes — provided it's a certified copy issued directly by the Clerk's office with the embossed seal and clerk's signature. Photocopies, memorial certificates from the ceremony, and uncertified copies cannot be apostilled.
The county where the marriage license was filed — not where the ceremony took place. If you don't know, the Clerk of Court statewide records system can help you locate it. We can also help if you're uncertain.
We can guide you through the ordering process but Florida requires the marriage parties (or their authorized representatives) to request the certified copy themselves. Once you have it, we take it from there.
We only apostille Florida-issued documents. For marriage certificates issued by another state, you'll need to use that state's apostille service. Many states offer expedited apostille services like ours.
5–7 business days from when we receive your certified marriage certificate. For St. Petersburg residents, online order is the most convenient — we email you a FedEx QR code, you drop your envelope at any FedEx, and we handle the rest.
Possibly — depends on the receiving country and the purpose. Italian and Polish citizenship applications often require both. We can apply bundle pricing: $300 for 2 documents, $130 each for 3+. Call if you're unsure which documents your specific application needs.
