Filed in person at the Florida Department of State

How long does a Florida apostille take? Depends on the lane.

The straight answer.

Lane 1 — mail it to the state yourself: the Department of State processes mailed requests in order received. Budget 5–7 weeks door to door, longer around holidays — and a defect means the whole round trip repeats.

Lane 2 — drive to the counter: the Tallahassee walk-in counter processes correct documents same or next business day. Cost: a day of driving for most of Florida, plus the risk of a rejection you find out about at the window.

Lane 3 — our service: we review your document before it travels, our Tallahassee team (half a mile from the counter) files it in person, and FedEx runs both legs. 5–7 business days, $190 per document, everything included. The full breakdown with day-by-day tracking stages is on our processing time page.

Common questions.

Presented at the counter: same or next business day. Mailed in: the queue is the delay — weeks, not days. The apostille certificate itself is issued on the spot once processed.
The day your document reaches us — at an office appointment or via the FedEx QR envelope. You'll get tracking at each stage: received, reviewed, filed, apostilled, shipped back.
Rejections: expired notary commissions, plain (non-certified) copies of vital records, and county-certified documents missing the incumbency certificate. Our pre-filing review exists to catch all three.
