How a Florida certificate of status is used in India
Indian banks and company secretaries sometimes want proof that the Florida parent company is currently active, not only that it was formed, when opening an account for the Indian subsidiary or completing KYC for a foreign shareholder. A certificate of status from the Florida Division of Corporations shows that, and it's usually filed alongside the certified articles and a board resolution. It goes stale quickly in a bank's eyes, so order it close to the date you'll submit it, and apostille it together with the rest.
Getting a certificate of status Florida will apostille
The original certificate of status, or a new certificate requested together with the apostille; never a photocopy or scan. It can only show the company as active if the annual report is filed and the entity hasn't been dissolved, and it speaks only for the date it was issued.
Order it from the Division online or by mail (listed at $8.75 for corporations, $5 for LLCs and $8.75 for partnerships by mail), or let us request a fresh certificate with the apostille using the two separate payments the state requires. The Division's fee is not included in our $220.

Who receives it in India — and translation
The OCI system and the Consulate General of India in Atlanta (which serves Florida) handle OCI and consular matters; sub-registrars and state stamp authorities handle property documents; Indian banks handle KYC and inheritance claims; the Ministry of Corporate Affairs handles company filings; Marriage Officers handle Special Marriage Act weddings; and CARA handles adoptions from India.
Florida documents are in English, which Indian authorities use, so translation is rarely needed. When a document is in another language, our rule applies: a translation certified by the translator, notarized by a different notary and apostilled in Florida. The OCI FAQ asks for an authorized English translation only for certificates not in English.
India has no general expiry for apostilled documents. Specific timing rules apply instead, such as stamping a power of attorney within three months after it first reaches India; banks and courts may also want recently issued copies.
