Our standard for a translation is a translator's certification, notarized by a different notary, with its own Florida apostille.

How a Florida certified translation is used in Honduras

This is where Honduras trips people up. Gobernación's published residency requirements say foreign-language documents must be officially translated by the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores or at Honduran consulates. A private U.S. translation, even one certified, notarized and apostilled in Florida, which is our standard approach elsewhere, may simply not be accepted for that file. Other Honduran offices may be more flexible, so ask the specific office before paying a translator. Whatever route you take, get the apostille first so the apostille certificate is translated together with the document.

Getting a certified translation Florida will apostille

The complete translation bound to the translator's affidavit (name, languages, document translated, statement of accuracy and competence), sworn before a different Florida notary with a complete jurat. As a rule, the translation is certified, notarized and apostilled in Florida so it carries its own apostille, while the original document gets its own apostille first.

Ask the receiving authority whether it accepts a translation made in the U.S.; some countries may also or instead require their own sworn or official translator (for example, a traductor jurado in Spain, a sworn translator in Germany or a perito traductor in Mexico). The translator can sign through our online notarization add-on: $40 for the first document ($10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee) and $20 for each additional document. Translation and notarization fees are not included in our $220, and we don't translate.

State fee for this document: $10 — included in our price. Full details on the certified translation apostille page.

Who receives it in Honduras — and translation

Births, marriages and deaths are recorded by the Registro Nacional de las Personas (RNP), directly or through a Honduran consulate. Residency applications go to the Secretaría de Estado en los Despachos de Gobernación, Justicia y Descentralización, with a migration-movement certificate from the Instituto Nacional de Migración. Land and estates pass through Honduran notaries, the property registry and the courts. In Florida, Honduras has consulates in Miami and Tampa.

Our standard for a translation is a translator's certification, notarized by a different notary, with its own Florida apostille. Honduras's residency requirements instead call for documents in a foreign language to be officially translated by the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores or at Honduran consulates, so a private U.S. translation may be refused. Get the apostille first, then ask the receiving office which translation it accepts.

We could not verify a published age limit for Florida documents in Honduras. Criminal-record certificates for residency are the documents most likely to be checked for freshness, so order them close to filing and ask Gobernación or your apoderado how recent they must be.

Why certified translations get rejected

  • Translator notarized their own affidavit
  • Certificate of accuracy with no notarization
  • Translation stapled to the certified original before it was apostilled
  • Destination required its own sworn translator

What it costs for Honduras

$220 per document, $380 for two and $160 each for three or more — the state fee, request form, in-person filing in Tallahassee and FedEx shipping inside the U.S. are included. Shipping the finished apostille to Honduras is a flat $100 per order.

Not included: whatever the issuing office charges for the certified copy or certificate, and notarization (online notarization is $40 for the first document — $10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee — and $20 for each additional one).

Common questions

For residency, the published requirements call for official translation by the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores or a Honduran consulate. Other offices may differ, so ask the receiving office before paying for a Florida translation.
Usually both, as two documents ($380 together). Apostille the original first so the translator can include the apostille, then apostille the translator's notarized affidavit.
No. It confirms the Florida notary's signature and commission. The translator's sworn affidavit is what speaks to accuracy.
Yes. Choose international return at checkout: a flat $100 per order, tracked international shipping to any address in Honduras. Shipping inside the U.S. is included.
Not on the U.S. side — no embassy or consulate legalization. Honduras may still ask for a translation; as a rule it should be certified by the translator, notarized and apostilled too.
