How a Florida affidavit is used in Honduras
Sworn statements from Florida support many Honduran files: a declaration that two name versions belong to the same person (common when Florida records drop the second surname), a statement of financial support for a relative's residency, or a declaration requested by the RNP when registering a child. Sign it before a Florida notary with a complete jurat in English, in person or online. The body can be in Spanish. Ask the receiving office whether it has its own wording, and remember the English jurat will be part of what gets officially translated.
Getting a affidavit Florida will apostille
A sworn statement with a complete Florida jurat (“sworn to (or affirmed) and subscribed” before the notary) showing venue, presence or online box, date, your name and ID type, plus the notary's signature and seal. An acknowledgment may still be apostilled, but a foreign office may treat it as unsworn. The statement can be in another language; the certificate must be in English.
Write the statement yourself or use the receiving office's wording; a notary who isn't an attorney can't draft it for you. Swear to it before any Florida notary or through our online notarization add-on: $40 for the first document ($10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee) and $20 for each additional document. Notarization is not included in the $220 apostille price.
State fee for this document: $10 — included in our price. Full details on the affidavit apostille page.
Who receives it in Honduras — and translation
Births, marriages and deaths are recorded by the Registro Nacional de las Personas (RNP), directly or through a Honduran consulate. Residency applications go to the Secretaría de Estado en los Despachos de Gobernación, Justicia y Descentralización, with a migration-movement certificate from the Instituto Nacional de Migración. Land and estates pass through Honduran notaries, the property registry and the courts. In Florida, Honduras has consulates in Miami and Tampa.
Our standard for a translation is a translator's certification, notarized by a different notary, with its own Florida apostille. Honduras's residency requirements instead call for documents in a foreign language to be officially translated by the Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores or at Honduran consulates, so a private U.S. translation may be refused. Get the apostille first, then ask the receiving office which translation it accepts.
We could not verify a published age limit for Florida documents in Honduras. Criminal-record certificates for residency are the documents most likely to be checked for freshness, so order them close to filing and ask Gobernación or your apoderado how recent they must be.
