Quick answer

Israeli offices sometimes accept a Florida affidavit as supporting evidence: a statement about Jewish lineage or family history for an aliyah file, a declaration explaining a name difference, or a statement in an inheritance matter. One Florida apostille is all the U.S. side needs — $220, 5–7 business days.

How a Florida affidavit is used in Israel

Israeli offices sometimes accept a Florida affidavit as supporting evidence: a statement about Jewish lineage or family history for an aliyah file, a declaration explaining a name difference, or a statement in an inheritance matter. The receiving office decides how much weight it carries, and some prefer statements made before an Israeli consul or an Israeli lawyer. If a Florida affidavit is acceptable, it must be sworn before a notary with a full jurat and apostilled. English is usually acceptable; ask before translating.

Getting a affidavit Florida will apostille

A sworn statement with a complete Florida jurat (“sworn to (or affirmed) and subscribed” before the notary) showing venue, presence or online box, date, your name and ID type, plus the notary's signature and seal. An acknowledgment may still be apostilled, but a foreign office may treat it as unsworn. The statement can be in another language; the certificate must be in English.

Write the statement yourself or use the receiving office's wording; a notary who isn't an attorney can't draft it for you. Swear to it before any Florida notary or through our online notarization add-on: $40 for the first document ($10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee) and $20 for each additional document. Notarization is not included in the $220 apostille price.

State fee for this document: $10 — included in our price. Full details on the affidavit apostille page.

Who receives it in Israel — and translation

The Population and Immigration Authority's Population Registry records marriages, divorces, births and deaths, usually through Israeli missions when you're abroad. Aliyah files go through the bodies handling immigration eligibility. The Registrar of Inheritance handles inheritance orders, and the Land Registry (Tabu) handles property. The Consulate General of Israel in Miami serves Florida.

For registering a change of personal status, gov.il requires a notarized translation only for certificates not in Hebrew, English or Arabic, so English Florida certificates usually need none. If another office asks for Hebrew, our rule applies: a translation certified by the translator, notarized by a different notary and apostilled in Florida.

Israel has no single expiry for apostilled documents. Aliyah files and some offices may want recent police records or civil-status documents, so check your file's list before ordering.

Why affidavits get rejected

  • Acknowledgment used where a sworn statement was required
  • Signed before the notary session instead of in front of the notary
  • Notary related to the signer (spouse, parent or child)
  • Notarized copy of a vital or court record attached as proof

What it costs for Israel

$220 per document, $380 for two and $160 each for three or more — the state fee, request form, in-person filing in Tallahassee and FedEx shipping inside the U.S. are included. Shipping the finished apostille to Israel is a flat $100 per order.

Not included: whatever the issuing office charges for the certified copy or certificate, and notarization (online notarization is $40 for the first document — $10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee — and $20 for each additional one).

Common questions

Often as supporting evidence, if it's notarized with a jurat and apostilled. Ask the office whether it prefers a statement made before an Israeli consul.
An affidavit carries a jurat: you swore or affirmed its truth before the notary. A letter with an acknowledgment only confirms you signed it, so a foreign office asking for a sworn statement wants the jurat.
No. It confirms the Florida notary's signature and commission. The foreign authority decides how much weight your sworn statement carries.
Yes. Choose international return at checkout: a flat $100 per order, tracked international shipping to any address in Israel. Shipping inside the U.S. is included.
Not on the U.S. side — no embassy or consulate legalization. Israel may still ask for a translation; as a rule it should be certified by the translator, notarized and apostilled too.
