How a Florida power of attorney is used in Argentina
A poder signed in Florida is how most people sell an apartment in Buenos Aires, handle a sucesión or deal with an Argentine bank without flying down. The escribano who will use it should approve the wording first, because Argentine practice expects specific powers to be spelled out. After notarization and the Florida apostille, a traductor público translates the full document, and the Colegio legalizes the translator's signature. You can also sign a poder at the Argentine consulate in Miami instead. If you're outside Florida, our online notarization costs $40 for the first document ($10 notarization + $30 technology platform fee).
Getting a power of attorney Florida will apostille
Signed by the principal and two subscribing witnesses, with a complete Florida acknowledgment certificate in English (venue, presence or online box, date, ID type, notary's signature and seal). The body can be bilingual or in the destination language. The state checks the notarization, not the powers granted, so have the foreign lawyer or notary approve the wording before you sign.
Get the draft from the foreign lawyer, notary or bank that will use it, then sign before a Florida notary in person or through our online notarization add-on: $40 for the first document ($10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee) and $20 for each additional document. Remote witnesses must be physically in the U.S. while witnessing. Notarization and legal drafting are not included in our $220.
State fee for this document: $10 — included in our price. Full details on the power of attorney apostille page.
Who receives it in Argentina — and translation
The Dirección Nacional de Migraciones handles residence (applications start online in RaDEX and finish in person). Argentine consulates in the U.S. handle the opción de nacionalidad and can also take poderes. The Registro Civil of each jurisdiction registers foreign records, and in Buenos Aires City foreign divorces and adoptions are registered on an Argentine court's order. Degree revalidation goes to national public universities, and escribanos and courts receive powers of attorney and estate documents.
Our general rule is a translation certified by the translator, notarized by a separate notary and apostilled in Florida, but Argentina instead requires an in-country professional for official filings. Under Law 20.305, foreign-language documents filed with Argentine authorities need a Spanish translation by a registered traductor público, and Migraciones and the Buenos Aires Registro Civil also want the Colegio de Traductores to legalize the translator's signature. Get the Florida apostille first so the traductor público translates the apostille page too.
Argentina doesn't publish one freshness rule for every foreign document. Criminal-record certificates are the most time-sensitive, so order them last and ask Migraciones or the consulate how recent they must be; for vital records, a freshly certified copy avoids the pre-2014 signature problem anyway.
