Quick answer

Türkiye doesn't have a general exit permit for minors, so apostilled travel letters are uncommon. One Florida apostille is all the U.S. side needs — $220, 5–7 business days.

Türkiye doesn't have a general exit permit for minors, so apostilled travel letters are uncommon. What does come up is parental consent (muvafakatname) when a Turkish passport is issued for a child and one parent can't appear. A parent in Florida can give that consent at the Consulate General of Türkiye in Miami, which is often simpler. A Florida-notarized consent with an apostille and a notarized Turkish translation may work, but confirm with the issuing office first.

A specific letter naming the child, the consenting parent or parents, the accompanying adult, the destination and the travel dates, signed before a Florida notary with a complete notarial certificate (venue, presence or online box, date, ID type, seal). Names must match each passport exactly, and the dates must cover the actual trip.

Draft the letter yourself (Florida law prescribes no form), then sign before any Florida notary or through our online notarization add-on, where each parent can sign separately from wherever they are: $40 for the first document ($10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee) and $20 for each additional document. Notarization is not included in our $220. Many trips need only a notarized letter, so confirm the apostille is actually required.

State fee for this document: $10 — included in our price. Full details on the child travel consent letter apostille page.

Who receives it in Turkey — and translation

Turkish consulates register civil-status events in Türkiye's civil registry (nüfus). In Türkiye, the Presidency of Migration Management handles residence permits, the land registry (Tapu) handles property, notaries and civil courts of peace issue certificates of inheritance, municipal marriage offices handle weddings, YÖK handles degree equivalence, and the trade registry handles companies. The Consulate General of Türkiye in Miami serves Florida.

Turkish offices expect a Turkish translation. Turkish consulates in the U.S. accept a translation by a sworn translator, certified by a U.S. notary and apostilled, which matches our rule: certified by the translator, notarized by a different notary and apostilled in Florida. In Türkiye, a sworn translator's translation approved by a Turkish notary is the alternative. Ask the Turkish consulate in Miami whether the translator must be registered on its list.

Municipal marriage offices commonly treat documents as valid for 6 months (180 days). Other offices set their own limits, so order fresh certified copies close to filing.

  • No Spanish version or translation where the authority requires one

What it costs for Turkey

$220 per document, $380 for two and $160 each for three or more — the state fee, request form, in-person filing in Tallahassee and FedEx shipping inside the U.S. are included. Shipping the finished apostille to Turkey is a flat $100 per order.

Not included: whatever the issuing office charges for the certified copy or certificate, and notarization (online notarization is $40 for the first document — $10 notarization fee + $30 technology platform fee — and $20 for each additional one).

Common questions

Usually at the Turkish consulate in Miami. A Florida-notarized consent with an apostille may also work, but ask the passport office first.
No. Airlines and border officers are often satisfied with a notarized letter. You need the apostille when a foreign authority relies on it in a formal procedure, such as a dual-national child leaving that country or a passport or residency application filed abroad.
The parent or parents who are not traveling. If the child travels with neither parent, both sign. A parent with sole custody signs alone and carries the certified custody order.
Yes. Choose international return at checkout: a flat $100 per order, tracked international shipping to any address in Turkey. Shipping inside the U.S. is included.
Not on the U.S. side — no embassy or consulate legalization. Turkey may still ask for a translation; as a rule it should be certified by the translator, notarized and apostilled too.
